Youth during the civic education
To contribute on the development of the country, youth in national civic education programme ((Itorero) in Rutsiro district have vowed to use their three months holiday in development activities.
The first session of the program was closed on December 17th 2012 but in the second session, secondary school leavers will join residents in executing development programs in their respective cells, villages and sectors.
These activities include sensitising residents on embracing family planning program, teaching the old how to read and write and other activities that help them to implement the performance contracts.
Youth in this program say that these voluntary activities are their great contribution in the development of their country Rwanda.
Geremie Nkurunziza, a participant explains: “We are going to work very hard and help our leaders achieve vision 2020.”
Richard Mukiza, National civic education program worker in charge of Rutsiro, confirms the youth’s participation will be of great help in the country’s development.
“Participating in development activities portray the love for their country. Residents are the country’s capital, that’s why youth are sensitised to develop the country through constructive projects,” he adds.
This program is supposed to last in a year time but starting, but it will take three months because its new, working five days a week and during morning hours.
The district official in charge of civic education program with coordination committees of cells, sectors and districts will support youth and facilitate them according to every activity.
