One of three Helicopters from (RAF) taking off for Juba
The Government of Rwanda has started sending its Air-force Helicopters and other ammunitions to Southern Sudan this Thursday 27 December 2012 prior to the first air force troops that will be sent immediately. NoR has learnt
According to Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) authority, Kigali Government in cooperation with the United Nations will send about 85 military airmen to South Sudan soon enough after all necessary preparations are complete including the arrival of the just flew Helicopters.
Three helicopters from the Rwanda Air-Force (RAF) NO. UNO 759 1510, UNO 759 1935, and UNO 759 1209 carrying 18 soldiers (about three units) including pilots flew to Juba in South Sudan this Thursday 27 December 2012.
United Nations and International community have accredited, shown more confidence over Rwanda’s military discipline and efficiency in peace keeping around the world, including South Sudan where land forces from Rwanda have been applauded of their work despite the presence of other forces from several other countries on the same mission.
Commenting on the later event, the RDF spokes person Brig. Gen. Joseph Nzabamwita said that Rwanda’s decision to send some air-force wing personnel in the peace keeping mission abroad has shown good intention of the country’s peace keeping policy; considering that it is the first time to include Air Force since it started sending peace keepers outside its boundaries.
“ Rwandans should be proud of their Government and RDF that continue to lead in many useful and peaceful operations which have continually ashamed propagandas from some media sources whose intention is to tarnish the image of this country” Remarked Brig. Gen. Nzabamwita.
The RAF will be joining about 800 soldiers from RDF’s land forces who are already in South Sudan where they are on peace keeping mission with the United Nations Mission in the Sudan (UNAMIS).
