There was drama Thursday on the Rwanda-Burundi border when a handcuffed man escaped from a group of Burundian officials and crossed into Rwanda.
According to witnesses, the suspect was arrested yesterday afternoon by security officials of Cibitoke province close to the common border. He was handcuffed and was accused of being Rwandan spy. Then the interrogation began.
But as the suspect was being moved to detention centre, he jumped onto his feet – running so fast they couldn’t get him.
Witnesses narrate that all the Burundian officials did was run after him while throwing stones at the suspect.
Local Burundian villagers and security officers continued throwing stones across into Rwanda even after the suspect had disappeared from view.
