The newest collection of the Rwanda Defense forces (RDF) army uniform has mesmerized many residents of Kigali with some of them getting compelled to use the phone cameras to take shots of the new camouflage combat uniform as some of the officers cross the streets.
The two new uniforms will replace the old one which have been plain material and have been used by officers of regular duty and those working in offices, except for the ones that have been used on national ceremonies.
Brig. Gen.Joseph Nzabamwita, the army spokesman say that this the changes have been done for all soldiers including the presidential guards where each of the groups has two separate uniforms.
Nzabamwita stated that there is nothing new about these changes but this can be interpreted from the perspective that the country now has the ability to dress its officers with better uniforms
He added that the armed forces are doing well in and outside the country and there is need for them to go professional to meet update standards.
Rwanda has peacekeepers in different countries worldwide, with Darfur, having the biggest number. The overall number that was so far sent for different peacekeeping missions has reached 31,067 men and women.
