Rwandans in Tanzania commemorate Genocide as all flags fly at half-mast

The Rwanda High Commission in Tanzania organized a special event On Wednesday April 08th in rememberance of over a million people who perished in the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda.

All flags for various nations and Tanzania’s National Flag were yesterday flying at half-mast as a sign of honouring the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

The commemoration event in Tanzania was held at the Mlimani City Centre located at the University of Dar Es Salaam. It was attended by Rwanda’s High Commisioner to Tanzania Eugene Kayihura, Numerous Tanzanians at all levels including pupils and students, senior officials from International Criminal Tribunal Court for Rwanda (ICTR); United Nations Resident Director (Tanzania) and Tanzania’s Minister for East Africa Harrison Mwakyembe was the Chief Guest.

Primary and Secondary school students also attended the event. Some schools closed shortly in Dar Es Salaam for the event.
