President Paul Kagame has told the government officials to desist from corruption and work collaboratively to resolve issues that affect the lives of Rwandan citizens as a way enabling the country to develop.
Kagame made the remarks today September 12, 2014 during the review of the 2013/14 performance contracts at the parliamentary building.
The president also signed new performance contracts between the president and district officials.
Kicukiro, Ngoma, came in the first and second place, as the top implementers of performance contracts in 2013-14, while Ngororero and Huye districts in the third place respectively.
Kagame stated that the performance of this year was good going by the points that were awarded to each of the districts, but cautioned that this can be better if only there was collaboration and attention given to changing the lives of Rwandans.
“I know that we can do better than this and I don’t think the problem is related to the residents, because I know that they are collaborative and inclined to development” Kagame said
Adding that there is need for collaboration to know what should be done and how, then implement it accordingly.
Here, Kagame stressed that failure to implement as leaders has caused many issues and queries to arise among community, which doesn’t serve the cause of good governance and justice.
I wonder why I visit residents and find that they have many unresolved problems, yet some of them can be solved in a few minutes. This should change…we need to address the problems of residents so that they can develop” Kagame stated.
He also hinted on the issues of corruption and embezzlement saying that though Rwanda is not in bad books, there must be a halt and pursuit of justice on some leaders who have resorted to using public funds for their own benefits.
“This culture of corruption is not our way of doing things. It should stop and desisted from and all the culprits be brought to justice, including those who have escaped the country” Kagame said.
