Rwanda police advisors in Darfur were awarded with medals of merit at El-Fasher Darfur on March 26, 2014.
The act symbolises recognition and appreciation for the medal winners’ work during their Tour of Duty in UNAMID peace keeping Mission.
The Guest of honour, UNAMID Deputy Force Commander, Maj Gen Balla KEITA commended the medalists in particular and government of Rwanda for the expressed commitment to help Darfur people attain sustainable peace.
He also praised the Rwanda Police contingent for their high discipline and professionalism during their duties.
Among the dignitaries present, were the Rwanda’s chargé d’Affaires in the Republic of Sudan, Ismail Kajugiro Shyaka, the acting Mission Chief of Staff Miguel Martin, the UNAMID Deputy Police Commissioner in charge of Operations currently acting Police Commissioner Dr. Sayed Kaleem Imam, the Deputy Direct of Mission Support Elijah Karambizi, The UNAMID Force Chief of Staff Brig Gen Norbert Kalimba, The Rwanda Police Contingent Commander ACP Elias Mwesigye and other senior officials of all UNAMID components.
