An online petition has been launched on the White House website asking US President Barack Obama to proclaim April 7, 2014 a day of remembrance for the victims of the genocide against Tutsis in Rwanda.
“As we commemorate the 20th anniversary of this dark chapter of humanity, it is only befitting that our President proclaims April 7, 2014 a day of remembrance in solidarity with the survivors of last genocide of the 20th century,” reads the petition. “Let’s remember the past for the sake of the future.”
The petition needs 100,000 signatures. Anybody can sign by logging onto the link: https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/proclaim-april-7-2014-remembrance-day-victims-genocide-committed-against-tutsis-rwanda-1994/pDMh06R9#thank-you=p
