The Youth in Urugerero (National Youth Service) program in Rwamagana District are being applauded for the role they have played in different projects for the development of people.
Rwamagana youth have helped in house construction and renovation for the poor and involved in water projects, bridge and roads reconstructions among other projects
The mayor of Rwamagana District Nehemie Uwimana repeatedly said that the youth on Urugerero program have brought change in the lives of the people towards development.
The youth on Urugerero program
Nehemie Uwimana explains that the 1,111 youth on Urugerero program are realising the vows they promised to achieve during the National Itorero including physical work and sensitizing people towards the government development programs.
The mayor says the youth on Urugerero program have renovated houses for the vulnerable, built classrooms, built vegetable gardens for the local people and other physical work. The youth have also sensitized people about dangers of HIV/AIDS, family planning, nutrition and other programs as required.
“The youth on Urugerero program are responding well to the problems of the local people and playing a role in solving them. They will be great leaders of the country in the future” says the mayor.
Youth did many projects for the development of people
The youth on Urugerero program are almost completing 7 months in this program doing projects for development, helping the needy and sensitising the people. They started altogether as 1137 but some left after getting employment and others going back to school now 1,111 are remaining.
Those who will complete this program will be awarded and given certificates of appreciation from the National Itorero service and will be eligible for all National services and employment.
