Security officials explaining to the youth consequences of drugs and how to fight drugs
Security officials in Burera district have asked youth in Anti-drug clubs to strive for dignity as they fight drugs that retard the country’s development.
The remark was made on April 30th 2013 during the meeting of different leaders and youth members of Anti-drugs clubs in Burera district.
During the meeting, Youth were reminded to spearhead the fight against drugs because they are the future leaders.The officials added that youth make the biggest number of drug users and dealers especially dry gin in Burera district.
Laetitia Nirere, in charge of ‘neighbours eye’ program in Burera district asks youth to be their neighbours keepers and report people who use drugs such as dry gin among others.
She explains that ‘neighbors eye’ program aims at eradicating drugs in Rwanda with every residents’ participation.
Security officers explained to the youth types of drugs, legal punishment of drug dealers and users and its dangers on the development of the country.
Burera youth promised to take on the struggle against drugs through sensitizing other youth on the dangers of drug use and to report such crimes.
Burera district is one of the places with many drug issues because it neighbors with Uganda where dry gin is exported from.
