Local leaders have been urged to be in offices during 19th genocide commemoration since some crimes are committed to genocide survivors during those days.
This was revealed during the commemoration preparation meeting that gathered security officials and Ngoma district authorities on March 27th 2013.
The vice-mayor for social affairs in Ngoma district Providence Kirenga, told leaders to be in their offices to take care of emergency insecurity cases.
She asserts: “Leaders who have been used to asking permission to go and visit families will have to wait until commemoration is over for rapid intervention in case of insecurity.”
The executive secretaries of sectors and cells have their families far away from their working places such as Kigali town or other sectors.
Because of long distance, such leaders take weekend leave to visit families since residing near the working places is mandatory.
1994 genocide 19th commemoration in Rwanda commence on March 7th every year.
