Investigators from France back into the country for a follow up on the cases of genocide fugitives living in France. The investigators include prosecutors and judges.
According to Prosecutor Jean Bosco Siboyintore the incharge of fugitive tracking unit at the prosecution authority, there are over 20 cases of fugitives who live in France suspected of taking part in the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi.
This is the second time the officials have come to Rwanda this year, but nothing has been done to make sure that the fugitives are brought to book by the European country.
Siboyintore says that the follow up comes after the investigations that were done in may this year.
“We are confident that the investigations will this time be fruitful and we believe that the cases will be handled as expected this time around,” said Siboyintore.
In a related development, police in Uganda on Thursday arrested a genocide suspect by the names of Thadee Kwitonda. He was believed to be residing in Belgium where he has citizenship.
