Hon. Bazivamo Christophe, Rwandan National on Thursday took oath of new duties in the East African Community as Deputy Secretary General in charge of Finance and Administration.
The swearing in-ceremony was officiated during the 17 extraordinary EAC summit of heads of state held in Tanzania’s economic capital, Dar-es Salaam by President John Pombe Magufuli, current chair of EAC bloc.
Upon swearing in, President Kagame congratulated him (Hon. Bazivamo) for his new role as Deputy Secretary General.
Also, Liberat Mfumukeko, EAC Secretary General tweeted a congratulatory note, ” I hereby congratulate Hon. Christophe Bazivamo upon swearing in as Deputy Sec General of EAC.”
The former parliamentarian in the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) takes office following another Rwandan National Dr. Richard Sezibera, the outgoing Secretary General who completed his five-year non-renewable term (2011-2016).
At the helm of the EAC bloc, Dr. Sezibera who had a successful political career in Rwanda, was instrumental in sustaining and implementing projects like international e-passport that would be always a memorable achievement under his leadership.
From Governor’s post to Electoral body, Several Ministerial posts to EALA Member of Parliament; Bazivamo is doubtlessly expected to follow Sezibera’s footsteps as he brings a wealth of various political experience to the new position.
The Secretary General of EAC is deputized by four secretaries in charge of Finance and Administration; planning and infrastructure; Political Federation and productive and social sectors.
Bazivamo appointed as Deputy Secretary General of Finance and Administration taking over Liberat Mfumukeko who later on rose through the ranks to become Secretary General of EAC bloc.
