The 27th Assembly of the African Union officially closed yesterday in Kigali, Rwanda’s capital after 10 daylong-busy schedule of heads of State and government representatives from 54 African countries.
The AU summit was held in the newly unveiled state-of-the-art building worth over $ 300 million. It comprises of a five-star hotel with 292 rooms, Radisson Blu Hotel, a conference hall with 5,500 seat capacity as well as an office park.
The participants and organizers seem to enjoy the stay in Rwanda. The AU Commission chairperson, Dr. Dlamini Zuma Nkosazana has today tweeted, “This is the best summit we’ve had, we must maintain it while striving to get better and better.”
Apart from Dr. Dlamini Zuma-Nkosazana appreciation, the Senegalese President, Macky Sall overwhelmingly hailed for the preparations; “I would like to thank the host Rwandans for the quality welcome and organization of this 27th African Union Summit.”
Attended by over 30 Heads of State and 3,500 government officials, the AU summit was major event ever hosted by Rwanda which went well, as no dampener incident was reported.
The accolade of successful organization of the AU summit belonged to President Paul Kagame and his team, which pushed her daughter, Ange Kagame to tweet “Kudos to you Paul Kagame, and everyone involved on a successful African union summit, you make me very proud my daddy.”
