Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) paramedics will next week conduct health care activities in Muhanga district, Southern Rwanda, where they will treat 3000 genocide survivors during its outreach services Army week.
According to officials at Rwanda Military Hospital, the 5-day exercise from 25-30, will involve offering specialized services to Genocide survivors in Muhanga district, as part of helping genocide survivors who still have physical and psychological wounds inflicted upon during the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi.
On 7th this month, Rwandans started 100 days period to commemorate the victims of 1994 genocide against Tutsi, which was stopped by then Rwanda Patriotic Army.
The services will be provided at Kabgayi Hospital and Nyabikenke Health Center in Muhanga district. All Military specialties will descend in Muhanga district to treat patients, while those in need of more examination or surgery will be transferred to Rwanda Military Hospital premises for further management.
All these services are provided free of charge. It is not the first time Rwanda Military Hospital offer free medical services to Genocide survivors and vulnerable Rwandans.
Since 2012, the Army has treated 39,843 vulnerable Genocide survivors across 27 districts. After Muhanga exercise, the Army will cover the remaining districts of Ngororero and Gicumbi.
Last year, through partnership with Fund for Genocide Survivors (FARG) Rwanda Military Hospital (RMH) was in Kamonyi District where they treated vulnerable survivors with different cases of diseases related to what they suffered during the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi.
