As Rwanda day was being celebrated in the Netherlands, social media was filled with patriotism and pride as Rwandans mainly those following the event on television and streaming channels poured their hearts out.

Nicole Jabo in London  who was following the event online could not hold off her love for President Paul Kagame as she noted that he is an awesome President, “My president is awesome #Enough said,” she wrote.

The president’s call to invite even those that despise Rwanda’s development seemed to be the catch of most of those on the twitter platform under their acronym, “Rwandans on twitter,” or #Rwot.

An account holder going by the pseudonym @Boo_sty noted president Kagame is her source of inspiration, ” Listening to President Kagame speak gives me life,” she said.

Flora Kayitesi quoted the part where the President stated that, “to think Rwanda’s achievements are achieved because Rwanda is doing something wrong then there is a problem.”

Mazimpaka Jean Pierre’s best speech quote concerned Rwanda’s battling against the odds noting that, “development has nothing to do with the size of the country.”

Thousands of Africans also joined Rwanda’s diaspora and turned it into Africa day.

Aaron Vakuku led the call stating that, “Rwanda day will turn into Africa day as Kagame really loves his people.”

A statement that came after one of the attendees from Burundi asked President Kagame to help her country get out of the political crisis.
