Members of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) in Nyanza district general assembly on October 6, 2012, convened to elects their new leadership for the next term of office.
The general assembly was attended by party members from various sectors, who were encouraged to make their contribution to the party activities so as to achieve their objectives especially setting up representatives at each community level.
The assembly elected the new party chairperson and eight committee members at the district level. Jean Claude Niyonzima was voted the new party chairman for Nyanza district, in the Southern province.
Niyonzima promised to work for unity, fight injustice and corruption, and promote development and social transformation in the district through a profound collaboration with all legally accepted parties in the country.
One of the party members, Emmanuel Kayiranga said that the new leadership should double their efforts so as to raise the awareness of the party’s activities during their mandate.
Hon. Jacqueline Mukakanyamugenge, the PSD National Vice president, presided over the elections. She said that the elections were successful, free and fair and asked the newly elected leaders to work along the party’s goals, abide by the its constitution and strive for the development of the country.
