President Paul Kagame is fully convinced that Rwandans have to keep in mind one thing; the continuous struggle to address the country’s unique problems with a drive to attain the desired development and improve the country’s welfare.
Kagame said that as a country, Rwandans have to be held responsible, as leaders and citizens to work hard to attain the development of which others have, despite the uniqueness of the country’s problems.
Kagame said that Rwandans have to first conceive and concede on the fact that they want to attain that desired development or take the easy way out of choosing to be beggars, dependant of which Rwanda is at now.
“If we feel comfortable with this situation we can chose to stay there, without hustling much; but if we want to move from our current position- I solemnly tell you that this will break us- and I cannot lie about that or beat around the bush on that”
It will break us, it is an everyday struggle, and it is a battle field every time. Whoever is scared of getting hurt, doesn’t go to war, instead they stay in a safe place where they cannot be injured- and such people exist” Kagame said
Noting that if that is how Rwanda should be, not to get hurt in that battle that leads us to where we want, then all Rwandans should sleep and remain where they are now.
Kagame said that he would like to see three things among Rwandans: a good attitude (mindset) which will find solutions to problems, working hard and extra ordinarily with productivity based on modern trends, and lastly efficiency in using the available resources to give an output.
The president made the remarks after presiding an oath taking event for the new Minister for East African Affairs, Jacqueline Muhongayire, Chief of Defense Staff, Gen. Patrick Nyamvumba and Dan Munyuza, the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations.
Speaking at the ceremony which took place at the parliamentary building Kimihurura, President Kagame made it clear that he had sacked Mukaruliza for incompetence.
The President said that that he replaced Mukaluriza with Muhongayire because the former failed to organize well the recent EAC delegates’ conference in Kigali.
“Why can’t you communicate, where’s your coordination. We can’t reach any goals without working efficiently. This is the reason why I decided to change the Minister of East African Community,” he said
He added that he personally requested Foreign Affairs Minister Louise Mushikiwabo to apologize to East Africa Community (EAC) delegates because of how the meeting was poorly organized.
Kagame said he made the scandal public to “stop any further speculation” in the public domain.
He cautioned other civil servants and said that it looks like some of them had forgotten their responsibilities.
“I’m reminding you that we have to collaboratively work together for the development of the country. Rwanda cannot be changed by words alone, we need action and we need to work together efficiently.
During the liberation Day event held on July 4, 2013 President Paul Kagame said that Rwanda’s current and future development is and should be built on coming up unique solutions that respond to the country’s history that was marred by an attitude of being observers toward issues that literally killed the country and its people.
